Insecurity and its mama

I don’t like insecurity.

I’m kinda suspecting that no one else really likes it either.  There is something so limiting, depressing and defining about it.

Where does it come from? One possible source – comparison.  So, how do we get rid of it? Stop comparing (of course and while I’m at it, I’ll end world hunger and buy every kid a pony).

We compare ourselves to others and we even compare ourselves to who WE think we should be…when we don’t measure up to either of those standards, insecurity has found a home in us.

Hebrews 12:1 reminds us that we should run the “race marked out for us”. There is a race that God has designed specifically for you and for me. Comparing my high-jump to someone else’s sprint doesn’t make sense.  They are 2 different races.

Once we really understand that, I think the possibilities are endless.  Our focus is taken off others and back to the One who designed our race for us.  What is He telling you to do?

  • Stay home and raise your kids
  • Finish your education
  • Lead a small group
  • Work so you can support your family
  • Volunteer
  • Write a blog 😉

Do your thing and do it well.  Don’t get caught up in the hurdles of comparison.

Run YOUR race.
